This is just a compilation of things that may enhance your playing LC on your computer. This is a work in progress and I add on when I can. Of, course, put in your two cents or two bytes worth two. I will explain as if you have no knowledge of computers as such. The (ADD LINKS) will be finished later as I am getting the basics down and then figure out what links to add. (Aug 08) Remember to load "Belarc Advisor" (located at bottom) as it will tell you what you have in your PC and it is a free software.

MEMORY

Does your PC have enough memory? LC is memory intensive so if you did not have enough then you would get a lot of lag in the game. Now some of the older computers, well you can not do nothing about it as they can only handle so much. In other words, they can usually not get more then 1 GB of memory to use. I will have links where you can go and see if you can add more memory to your PC. Remember now, each PC is different and the motherboard (mobo) can only handle so much memory. Like having a cup of water. You can have a gallon container of water like having 4 Gb of RAM, but no matter how much you try, the cup will only handle so much water and the rest is wasted. So to, you can buy more memory but if your motherboard can handle only 1 Gb of RAM then the rest is wasted money. 1 Gb runs about $100, on the average.

Here is some sites, for checking on memory. Once you figure out if you can use more memory then check some sites out for prices and most important the return policy and warranty too. This sites were picked at random now. But they all have memory checkers on them. Reason you may need to know more then one, because they do not cover all the computers on the market now. My hp elite m9040n is not covered. So i would go to HP and read the stats for my pc as to what type of memory it has. You have to watch it now too, cuz one site (I forgot which) had me good for 8 Gb of memory. But that is for a 64 bit pc and mine is 32 bit pc. The HP does have a statement saying that my computer can only handle up to 4 Gb. But I would not want to spend any money to get the max of 4 GB as only 3.3 Gb of memory is accessed. I have 3Gb that came with the pc and that is good enough for me.

VISTA users

Hmmm, I bet you just loaded up and never read the instructions. But do you know about Ready Boost? Bet not. Basically, it is adding a ready boost memory stick (flash drive, etc) and use this for your memory instead of the PC memory. Read on how it boosts the load time and everything else. Remember, there are different configurations and money you can spend on the flash drive or memory stick now. But the max memory you would buy anyway is 4 Gb as this is all the ready boost can handle at the time. But read for further explanations. When I get my flash drive done, I will post it and let you all know what I did, how much, and blah blah blah.

When you put in a memory card or flash drive to use for memory boost, here is what to do. Go to bottom left of screen and press the Round Window icon, READY. then in the next screen to the left press COMPUTER. Then click the drive your memory card or flash drive is in, then click properties. Once you done that you notice READY BOOST at top and just follow instructions.

Now this next link is for Vista users to help speed up vista by taking off stuff you do not need. Example, if you do not use Fax services, you can click this off so it does not run in background or use resources. Just read it and I found it simple to use.

RAM: Random Access Memory
There are many types of ram so when your looking at buying more RAM you better check your BIOS to take a look at what kind you need to buy!

The 3 main types of Ram are: DDR, DDR2, and DDR3... DDR being the oldest module. DDR2 the second oldest. FINALLY DDR3 the latest and maybe greatest!

When using the newer OS's like Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need at least 2gb (Gigabytes) of ram. Now most factory computers now days come with at least 2gb standerd. If you have 4gb of ram you have more than enough for Last Chaos!

Explaining the Difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is the memory LATENCY. In DDR2 the latency is much tighter than DDR3. But DDR3 can handle more intense usage as the voltage is higher. DDR is the oldest being in most computers behind 2006 but does not mean you need a new computer to buy some!
DDR will run a ALOT more money than DDR2 due to it not selling very well and its out of date so companies just put it up for more and hope it sells but they don't care! They have plenty of DDR2 and DDR3 to sell. DDR2 will probably be the cheapest but it really depends on what type you buy.

RAM GUIDE:

Computer behind 2006 will most likely have: DDR 512mb of RAM
Computer Bought new around 2006-2009 will most likely have: DDR2 1gb-3gb of RAM
A Computer bought new now days (2009-2011) Will 80% of the time have: 2gb-6gb of ram!
Now if you want to buy a factory gaming computer it will most likely come with 4gb-8gb of ram! Now that's a lot!

Video Cards / Graphics Cards

So you want to add a video card to your PC. Hold up now. It is a little harder then that. Now this guide here is for the non-geeks who read this.

1. Can your PC use a better video card? Depends on the PC but most can use one as the one from the store bought PC are usually just minimal to keep the price of the PC down.

If you have an integrated graphics card, then all that is saying is that you have a basic chip for a card. You can DEFINITELY use an upgrade then. Here are a few suggested links to go to find out.

You will have to find out what type of computer you have and what kind of card, you can put in there. There are 3 types of slots: PCI, AGP, and PCI-E. The PCI being the oldest and slowest, followed by AGP, and the fastest cards are the ones with the PCI-E. Once you find out what kind of card you can use, then you have to see what kind of power supply you have in your PC. Again, power supplies were built for the PC, again with cost cutting in mind. I have a GeForce 8400 GS graphics card in my PC. It came with the PC. It sells for around $65 and a nice cheap card. I plan to put in the Radeon 4870 card. But I will have to get a bigger power supply too as my 300 watt power supply will not do.

A lot of the cards if you notice will tell you what kind of power supply you should have with them. I will add the link, which shows you how to total the wattage to see what you need. And another thing. If you plan to add more accessories later, you might want to get a power supply maybe 50 watts or more to take care of anything in the foreseeable future. Say on my card I want, it says to have a 450 watt power supply. I might get a 600 watt, and I know that will take care of ANYTHING. I plan to add another portable drive in my PC and also a audio card from sound blaster. Then maybe a couple of more fans. All these little things add up now.

Defraging your Computer (Defragmentation)

If you do not know what this is and you are getting lag playing LC, then this may help a little. In a nutshell, what defrag does, more or less, is to take out the empty spaces in your disk drive. Your pc, has a lot of rooms (bytes) that it looks at for info. So if you could eliminate the empty rooms, then with less rooms to look for info, it could access the info faster. This is just to give you a perspective of what defraging does. This is what I would explain to the non-geeks out there anyway.

Now once you figure that out, go to the section of defraging in your pc and you can put in say on a weekly schedule to defrag at night when you are sleeping. This believe it or not, is part of pc maintenance whether you play LC or not.

TASK MANAGER

When you ever load LC up after a patch sometimes the download hangs up and you can not close the LC program. Simply go to the Task Manager and delete the program there. Get you pointer and bring the bottom bar up. Then right click and click Task Manager.

This link is from a member for those who want to delete the processes from your task manager to make your pc run a little faster. It does cost $29.95 but it does some info on the task manager processes you might be able to delete. For example, I deleted my fax process as i do not have a fax machine. There are other sites to explain these processes, but if i ever run across them I will definitely update this section.

Everyone is correct on the free spyware. But you need passive spyware. Example, I used to be like you in the dark side (to cheap to buy an anti-virus program). I would get stuff on the computer and every week have problems and run the free anti-virus programs. But after numerous problems, I broke down and bought Norton's anti-virus program. What it does is linger in the background and prevents anything from coming into your computer. I have had it 6 months now, and I run it once a week with Defender and AVG and not ONE item to remove. Before, I was always catching something and patting myself on the back cuz I caught it. DUH, You are catching the burglars in your house and you are proud you caught them. Why not put a guard at the front gate to prevent them from ever getting in your house in the first place. Hope you can see the difference. Yes, there are lot of people who swear by the free stuff. But ask the right question to them. I ask how many times they have run and caught a virus or something on their computer. Some proudly swear that a certain program catches it and deletes it. I try to tell them but no one listens. How did it get in the computer in the first place. That is what to ask. Me, I will say Never on my part. At least up to now. Hope this explains, things. Getting Hacked or Banned

Log into HOMEPAGE. At the top, click the HELP there. Then in the next window a few lines down, click the "Contact Us."

When you click the contact us, you will now click the Billing section now. Just tell them your problem.


Now if you have a Pay Pal account, send in a transaction that you have done with Aeria, if you have bought something.
