With the new Dratan map out, Evasion went out the window and now new evasion rules are in place. Before you could be 100% evasion proof, that a monster say, 10 levels above could not hit you. Now with the new evasion rules, this has changed and the evasion is now lowered. Evasion is now around 70%. So if you get all evasion armor, you are over protecting yourself on evasion and a lot is wasted. What I do is to get at least 1 piece of armor as defense. Think about it. If you are 100% evasion, then 30% evasion is gone to waste. The game will only recognize 70% of your evasion and figures out the battles accordingly.
Now my theory is, is you have all evasion armor then that means maybe one piece of evasion armor is not used. So I always try to get at least 1 defensive armor to be more effective. Therefore, when the monster did hit you, it would not hit that hard. Remember, evasion is when the monster MISSES you and defensive is HOW MUCH damage you will take.
Evasion Armor is something you should learn to identify and learn early. Reason being, if you do, you will know what to buy and what NOT to buy.
Basically, if you have on Evasion armor, then the physical attacks by monsters will not touch you about 70% of the time. What you will find, that monsters your own level are not that bad to fight. Evasion armor is really needed when you start fighting monsters, say 5 levels or above. But people get engrained in that you have to have evasion armor.
I will show you in general on what to look for. Now you will have to scan through the Level 75 - 77 armor to familiarize yourself with your class of armor. For examples, I will be using Knight armor, but this applies to all of the other classes of armor too.

So for sake of brevity, i will break it down as such. As you notice from White to blue, stats are added and increased, little by little. Also, if you notice the max seals for white and yellow armor is 4 and for green and blue armor the max seals is 5. The exception is that Blue armor may get the 6th seal with the special attribute such as speed up, -10 level, and so on. If you get armor on a drop, you may get a piece with only 1 seal on it. Also, you will find that mobs drop certain colors too. Example, the Level 109 Commanders in the Tomb drop basically White level 85 armor only. But you can occasionally get a y4 armor, but not enough to pay for the idb and lucky scrolls used. The slashers in the Tower in Eghea, will drop Level 85 armor and blue armor also. Go to the Drop list and search for the mobs that drop blue armor if you are drop hunting now.

Now the catch. All armor do not have the full seals for their class. For example, you may find Green Armor with only 4 seals, like the 2d evasion may be missing. So sometimes it is just a matter of adding up the evasion to see which set has more.
Say there are two pair of Green armor gloves for sale. They are both 4 seals. The 1st set, as seen below has the 4,4,5, 4 stats. The 2d set has the 4,4,5,12 . Which do you buy? Well, about 10 reflex is equal to 1 evasion. So buying the 1st set of gloves with the 4 Evasion is the better buy.
Just a note about the 6th seals. They are overrated now and overpriced. Like the 6 seal for speed. All it does is make you move faster. Just imagine taking a haste potion. But again, you do not take a haste potion when fighting do you. Some of the other seals like mana and hit restoration are good if you have poor armor. I use the mana or hp stealer if I had too now. In my opinion, once you learn how to play the 6th seals are not something you have to have. The only seal I have used is the -10 seal. Using higher level armor at 10 levels below is something i really used.

REMEMBER THIS: IF you have all evasion armor and 3 SoS on you, then you are OVER evasion. That is, Only 70% is working and the other 30% is not used.
Hope this explains what evasion is all about. Evasion is just dodging the monsters hits, whereas defense the mob may hit you but then the hit points my be lessened due to armor defense now.
