Know Thy Enemy! Monster & Enemy InformationThis is a featured page

Monsters & Enemies!!!
You are never alone in the lands of Iris. Wherever you are, you are never more than a stone's throw away from something that wants to eat you, skin you, or see what your insides are made of. Monsters and enemies (commonly referred to as "mobs") are scattered throughout the lands, and it's a good thing! These mobs will be your main source of income, advancement, and game play. Killing mobs will reward you with item drops, gold, rare items, quest items, and of course, valuable experience and skill experience.

At the bottom, are links to mob lists or use the directory at the left.

Aggression
Not all mobs want to tear you limb from limb. There are different types of mob behaviors. Sometimes, you will be the aggressor.

Passive - Passive mobs will not attack you unless you attack them.

Aggressive - Aggressive mobs will attack you if you get too close.

Aggro-Aided - Aggro-Aided mobs can be passive or aggressive. When you attack or are attacked by a mob that is Aggro-Aided, mobs of the same type in the area instantly become aggressive towards you. Example are Treants, which are passive. But if you attack one, then all the other Treants in the area will attack you.

Aggro-Aided (Magic) - Also, some mobs are attracted by magic. So if you use a buff, then the magic used in throwing the buff, may attract a mob. Example, most mobs are attracted when a healer uses a heal spell. But beware also. A healer may be away from a mob. Then if she throws a heal buff on another character near a monster, then that monster may aggro on him, from the magic buff.

Note: Be warned. If you bite off more than you can chew, mobs will follow you for an incredibly long time. They can be difficult to shake off, turning the hunter into the hunted.

Also, one way to lose the aggro is to either take a recall from someone in the party or teleport out and come back. Either way, you lose the aggro. In a party, if someone has a recall scroll on, the ask that person to throw a "Safety Recall." What you do is to leave the recall window on the side somewhere, whereas, if you get low on hp from a mob attacking you, then you can take the recall. The monster will now look for someone else to beat on. Takes a while to learn this method though.

Color Coding
As you advance through the lands and grow in power, you will notice that the mob names can be different colors. This color coding is a valuable piece of information for the aspiring adventurer.

Red Named Mobs -= Gives you a high amount of experience, but low skill experience. If you do kill them, then the xp is the same till you are above the level of the mob.

Orange Named Mobsv= High amount of exp, (lower than red) Low skill exp, (higher than red)

White Named Mobs = Medium exp, High sp, Medium difficulty. This is the color you would sp farm on to get the max xp and sp. When the mob name is white and at your level, is the Highest xp and sp. So save up your sp items for the mob, that is at your level now in the White Name now. Generally, you should be able to kill them and not require high armor.

Green Named Mobs - =Low experience, low sp. Monsters are easy to kill.

Blue Named Mobs - =Virtually no exp, no sp, to easy to bother with a fight.Give very low experience and low skill experience

Kiariss Silver borders 14 Aug 2 2008, 1:06 AM EDT by 5fingers

Ok, so I'm now sp farming in one of the best places in Iris, The Prokion temple, but while I was fighting, I found out that some types of mobs, (at the moment all I've discovered is the Ghoul and the Orc Soldier) Have a silver border around their name plate. After asking well over 100 skilled players, they all said something along the lines of this: The silver borders shouldn't be found on Ghouls and Orc soldiers because they indicate that that certain mob is a boss. What does the silver border indicate? Also, My second almost as important question is this: Did the silver border replace the old dragon border that indicated that that mob gave you a higher rate of getting a rare item?
