Leveling Scrat-chi or It-chi Pets Notes

So you finally got one of the new pets introduced in Nov 08. Here are some tidbits of info to save you time and money.

LEVELING

When you level at low levels the monsters are blue to you and normally you would not get any drops or even gold drops. But with the new pet, the monsters act at his level. That is you are killing the monster but the drops are as if you were the pet's level now.

You can kill various monsters but they all seemed to attack the new pet except one. I found that the Treants were the best for leveling. Yes, once in a while the Treants will actually hit the pet but to me that was here and there. But have the inventory window out. Put your pet icon on the bottom left corner of the inventory window. Then slide the window to the right with only the row showing your pet . This way only the row with your pet is showing. Then put your bandage icon in the combat bar on the bottom.

It is a glitch that your pet will not fit in the combat boxes on the bottom now. Anyway, if your pet gets ONE hit, then take your pet off to lose aggro and then equip him again, and make sure to feed him right away too. If I attack anything other lower monsters, the pet would get attacked too often for my taste.

With the treants, I would mob them to the max. First, you run around hitting the Treants to collect them. When you finally get the mob you want, then if you have a Knightmare buff yourself and any other offensives buff if you are not a knight. I like to collect nearly all the treants in the area if no one is around. This is when I also use the attack potions I have to kill them faster. At the end of the big mobs, i can gather around 5k of gold and the buffs are just starting to time out also. That is how big I get the Treant mobs.

After get all the buffs and potions you need, then make sure to "line the Treants" up. That is if you walk backwards they will follow you in one big line. This way if you collect 30 treants you will not have 30 treants hitting you but just the few up front. I made sure to equip my pet, after I had started killing the Treants. While killing the treants, your pet may get hit. If it does then try to unequip your pet, then equip him again so he will lose his aggro. Make sure then that you feed him so his hit points stay up. I usually put the bandage icon in the control bar. Then with the pet window under the Treant window, I can watch both and having my finger over f7 to press the bandage if my pet gets hit. But i can also move my pointer over to the right side when the row with my pet icon is from my inventory window.

ARMOR

I wasted 299 ap when i bought the armor I found. I think it was good up to level 15 where you can buy the higher armor. I think I will just stay with what I have. I will level the pet at the treants till it really gets up there. Just when it does get to the point where the pet can supposedly "attack" and help has yet to be seen. But like the mage, it may be weak at low levels and needs to be at higher levels to show any effect.

FEEDING YOUR PET

If your pet's hunger is low and you are attacking then your pet will not get any xp or more. The hunger has to be 20% or above. You can tell when you click the pet window on. If the numbers are red, then the hunger or the Sincerity is low. It is cheaper to buy the higher stuff , gold wise. Example, the Baked Bread costs 10,900 and feeds your pet 18% and the cheese cookie costs 5,000 gold and feeds your pet 5% of the hunger.

REVIVING or UNSEALING YOUR PET (when your pet dies)

If your pet dies you can not equip him of course. Just go to the Animal Trainer to Unseal him like you do the horse or dragon. At least at level 0, there is no charge for gold.

OTHER INFO

If you go in Merchant Mode and have to have your pet out to show off, that is good and fine. BUT make sure your pet is AWAY from you. Some people have the pet right on top of them and it is nearly impossible to click them on to see what they are selling. I do this but make sure my pet is far enough away from me.
