Now that you have gotten your new pet or about to get one, read on to get information on how the new pets work. This is a work in progress. Please note the last update on the bottom now. If you got any new tips, feel free to put them in here. Just put what you want and I check everyday for entries and edit as appropriate, e.g. grammar or where to place the section at.

LEVELING - Leveling the pets is fairly easy. They level like your character does, by experience points. So a Level 10 monster may give your pet .15% and a level 35 give your pet .90%, But you get the idea.

When you attack the low level BLUE named monsters, the level attacking is according to the pet level now. I was level 32 TK and killed treants (blue name) by myself and no drops. Attacking with the pet, I was able to get regular drops now as if I was the treants level. Now I find that the treants are the best around to level the pet. The other monsters will attack the pet. The treants do too, but at a very small rate. I was able to mob like 20 treants and not one hit. On the occasional hit from a treant, i just unequipped my pet, then equipped my pet, so my pet would lose aggro.

STATS - You earn stat points everytime the pet levels. I reasoned that if my pet did not have any stats then he would not be able to be percieved as a danger. Also, if a pet can not hit a monster then there is less chance of your pet getting hit.

Besides, I did not want to put any stats on strength or anything to give him more hitting power. I did put a stat on Dexterity and went to the Animal Trainer. The Scrat-chi stats can not be reset. Whether this is a glitch or not, I do not know. Just as the pet does not pick up things, is a glitch aeria is working on.

ARMOR/WEAPONS
Now that I know what I am doing, i would have not spent 299 to buy the useless armor. That is, i am not putting stats on anything, except for that one point. Whatever I kill, the pet gets xp also. And we all know that a pet that is below treant level 26, would probably do no great if any damage. Except get the pet killed. Right now, I am just basically trying to level the pet because he will have to be at my level, i presume, to be able to help me fight. So i do all the work now.

FOOD
Make sure you feed your pet. When his hunger hits 0%, he will no longer get xp from your kills.

UNSEALING or REVIVING your pet
When your pet dies, it is the same procedure for dead pets. Go to the Animal Trainer, click "5. Release sealed pet", bring the inventory window up (press E), drag your pet icon to the square in the sealed window, and the price to unseal your pet will appear below.

When you click your pet and the window on the left says, "Unable to use equipment", then your pet is dead. Also by just putting the pointer on the pet icon in the inventory, it will say sealed item.

BUYING a PET

This may be a problem. The pet window does not show any level to the pet now. So if someone were to sell you a level 16 pet and it is level 6, you may be stuck with it. I would tell other person you are taking screenshots of the transaction for one. Also, get a Game Sage, if you know one to be the middle man. They can check the pet out to ensure the proper level. You then give the individual the money and you get the pet from the Game Sage. That way you will not have to worry that the person has two pets and gives you the lower pet (by accident, of course, if he is caught, lol)

People on Sarissa are selling the new pets for outrageous prices, like 200 mill gold. Hmmmm, well you go on S1 and buy the first 2 gems for the pet quest. Then by shopping around you can buy Master Coins for 2 mill or less. You can buy the appropriate pet book, Torn Pages, cheap for around 100-300k. So for about 60 mill you can have a spanking, brand new pet and you did not have to go the hassles of hunting for the items. HINT - I bought 15 of the Master Coins at 1.5 mill in S1. Then went to S4 and sold 10 that night for 3 mill apiece. But people are too lazy to shop now. If you read the Strategy Section, you will have read up on shopping and leveling now.

I would think that they are working on pet problems from picking up to maybe showing the pet level in the window. But go to the left and click patch notes to go to the LC link after maintenance to see what they have done now.

PET QUEST and ITEMS

The pets are getting cheaper now. I have seen the first two gems, on Sarissa server now, selling for 20 mill each. They i would think then all you would have to do is get the 10 master coins now to get the 3d gem.

If you want to get your own fox tails, then start a level 1 knight and all he will do is hunt foxes only. If you can lock his xp at level 5. Reason for level 5 is so you can get the level 9 sword. It is a cheap and simple manner to get it to +3 now as the weapons are cheap. Remember to get Level 9 weapons for smelting because you get two smelts. Armor smelts only give you one smelt. You can also hund the silver foxes for the fox tails. I hunted both and found neither to be of any advantage to dropping fox tails. I know I was an hour hunting foxes out the North Gate and not one foxtail. I came back after watching a movie, and in 1 hour again got 5 fox tails. You will notice this trends often. You can get a lot of items in a certain time period then run cold.

The reason lot of people have to buy the pet quest items is that they are too high level to get drops from them. Not too many people would have a level 70 character and have a mid level character. Of course, the people who have pet trainers (like moi, for one) in the monster range can get the drops. My level 32 TK pet trainer worked out just right.

PET SKILLS

Scrat-chi has two skills listed. I was able to go to animal trainer and get the first skill. Of course, you will need a battle skill book to get the skill. The 2d skill you get at a higher level which i will note later.
