Merchant ModeThis is a featured page

I have noticed that many people have questions when they go into merchant mode..

Well, first of all, people seem to have trouble getting their pets in. (This information applies to exchanges, also)
If your pet wont go into your shop, then go to the pet trainer and RESET PET SKILLS, you cannot go into merchant mode without your pet's skills reset. If that doesn't work, try re-logging in, that works sometimes, meaning you had a glitch, or your pc was just being an ass, like mine always does =D The last part is how to set up Merchant mode and also how to troubleshoot any problems you may have.

If you don't even know how to go into merchant mode.....

1. Go to your character status bar at the bottom left. Click the far left icon or press "A"

2. When the Action window appears, click the Merchant Mode Icon.

3. Then you can start selecting items one by one, price and quantity that you wish to sell. Now if you sell items for 1 million or more it is a good idea to double check the prices. You sure would not want to sell that 40,000,000 sword for 4,000,000 now, just because you were one "0" short now. It does happen.

4. Then type in the bottom what you wish to name your shop. Then click of course, open shop, and you are ready to go sell then.

NOTE: With the addition of the Traders, I would advise to check prices there first. You may be selling your stuff too cheap. You can make up to 4 characters and that means you can have 10 items per character selling. Then if you go into Merchant Mode , that would make a possible 50 items selling for you. If you plan to level start stockpiling on pbi and xpb now for when you get to the tomb. When you get certain drops, you can get an xpb so don't sell them.

Addendum

If you want to have the neat sign, you can check the box at the right side of the merchant mode window, about midway down on the edge. You can barely see it. When this is checked, you will be charged a 2% tax on all stuff that is bought. So if you are selling a +14 item for say 100 million gold, then 2 million gold would be take out as tax. Besides, I find just to put for example, Knight Level 65 duals +14, was good enough. But if you want the nice sign, just remember you lost 2% of sales.

Also by checking the square on the right side, you are able to use the 5 squares on the bottom to sell as a package. Whether you put items in the 5 squares is irrelevant. But most people use this to get the neat sign, so why not at least put one item in the boxes to sell. Just a waste of a space you can sell an item on. You can also use this to sell a set of armor, or a mix of items. There is no rule on what to sell here in the 5 boxes.

If you are trying to sell stuff and you can not go in merchant mode, then you have an item you are trying to sell that should not be there. What you do is delete item by item till you are able to get in merchant mode. Lot of times you may try to sell stuff that is not tradeable. For example, you can not put a weapon with weapon covers, item mall uniforms, and also certain item mall potions and items are not sellable either.

This is from my section the Pet/Mount guide on selling and trading a pet.

TO SELL OR TRADE A PET or How to Set up Merchant Mode and sell stuff

1. You must be level 10 or above to be able to open merchant mode now.

2. To trade or sell a pet, the pets skills for the dragon/horse MUST be reset. The dragon/horse must recover all of its technical points. You go to the Animal Trainer to reset their pet skills.

For the new pets, Itchi and Scrat-chi, you must take all their armor/weapon off to be able to trade. You can not reset their points, only just removing all armor and weapons.

3. The person who wishes to buy a pet or trade for the pet can not have two pets in his inventory. That is you can not trade in which you would get 3 pets now, of either group as stated above. You can only have 2 pets of the above combo at any time. So you can not buy another pet or trade to acquire another pet, if you have 2 pets already in your inventory. But you could each trade each other a pet. That is because at the end of the trade you will have the 2 pet max anyway. You can have 2 horses and 1 itchi and you could acquire another itchi or scrat-chi pet. But you could not get another dragon/horse as that would make more then the 2 horse/dragon combination.

Now with the new pets, Itchi and Scrat-chi, you can have a total of 4 pets. That is, 2 of a combination of dragon/horse and 2 combination of Itchi/Scratchi. That would have been nice for my pet trainer as i have problems at times trying to change pets.

4. Also, if all the above is correct and you try to open merchant mode with an item that can not be sold or stored, you will not be able to sell your pet. In other words, all items, pets included, must be a tradeable item.

5. If you are level 10 or above, try opening your merchant mode with just the pet and its skills reset. You should be able to open in merchant mode then. Then only two ways, you can not open. You are not level 10 yet or the pets skills have not been reset.

6. Now if you did step 5 and then put items with your pet in merchant mode and you can not open, then put items in one by one, to figure out which item is the "guilty party." Lot of times you are in a hurry and just happen to overlook an item.

7. Shop around and see what others are selling their pets for and this applies to armor and weapons too. You do not want to sell it too cheap. Now if you know the price already and there are not many pets for sale, then jack your price up from 10% to 25% more. You sell for what the market will bear. Sometimes people are hard up and desperate to get a pet.

8. Do you have the right number? If you have 10 attack minerals and you put 13 instead of 10, you will get the "You must have selected items for trading." So double check that the correct quantities are in the item or items you wish to sell.

9.
Now if you are set up in Merchant Mode and you come back to check and restock, be careful that you do not try to put the same item back for sale. Sometimes when you sell an item, it ,may not disappear from your inventory. So if you put it an item up to sell and nothing happens, then you will know why. If you get frustrated then close shop and open it up again. Then all sold items will disappear from your inventory also.

10
. You can not sell items that are covered. For example, i can not sell my dual swords with the fish bone covers. All weapons or armor must be without covers. If you have an item with a platinum refining stone on it, you may have to wait for whenever time that the Platinum refining stones wears off.

If after all of this you can not still sell your pet, then you must have really dissed the God Eres, lol

Conclusion

This should get your going on your way now. LC changed the level to sell to Level 10 to sell now, so a lot of high level players got new characters and some were not aware of this change. (Psst, don't tell no one that I was one of them. I double checked everything, took all the items off, one by one, with and without pet, till someone put the light on. I was level 9, And also, the line that reads
"You must have selected items for trading" is just another way of saying, you can not open Merchant Mode because you put an item in there that should not be there. Well Hope this helps.

Then with the addition of the Traders in Randol, you can be any level to sell stuff now. But I am waiting for them to eventually change it to level 10 too, in the future.

If you have other questions, post a thread =D

LadyHarmonixer So I want to start selling stuff.... 2 Sep 29 2009, 4:57 AM EDT by LadyHarmonixer

But I'm a relative game newbie (I've only been playing for a month, and have only been concentrating on leveling and SP farming at this point), so how do I determine what prices I should be selling these things at? I mean, do I just browse the competition ot find out what they're selling, or is pricing selective or random, or ask other people or what? Are there differences in pricing if I have multiples of the same items but they have different abilities and/or different + stats on them?

Is there a guide you can point me to?

I have 2 problems.

1: On my main char (who is now slightly rich..ish), sometimes, even though im above lvl 10, i put items in the windows and it says "You must have selected items for trading" Now, i check and check again, and usually when that happens....i end up selling 1 thing at a time.

2: More of a question: Whats the best server for buying a pet cheap?

Cheers all.
