Last Chaos Pet Acquisition
See: The Pet GUI & Menu | Pets & Mounts | Pet Health Hunger & Sympathy | Pet Experience & Leveling | Pet Skills | Animal Trainer | Mounts You can buy pets from other players for varying amounts of gold, though it is usually expensve and well out
of the affordable range of newer players. All pets start off as a quest item that you will need in order to get the required pet quest that will unlock a pet. For a Horse, you will need a "Pan Flute" and for a Dragon, you will need a "Drage Egg". Both of these drop from mobs. Of course, you can buy these pet quest items from other players, but they are not a particularly rare drop and you may want to invest your gold elsewhere.

Once you have acquired a pet quest item (Pan Flute or Drake Egg) you will get an automatic quest pop up for the pet related quest. Clicking on this pop up and accepting the quest is the first step toward owning a pet. The first part of the quest is to talk to Lorraine in
Randol Town (you can easily locate Lorraine using the

in-game map). Lorraine will then tell you to go see Archaeologist Jajan in Dratan (you can get to Dratan by talking to the town teleporter NPC and selecting Dratan). Once you have located Archaeologist Jajan, talking to him will complete the quest. You will now find either a Level 1 Pony (Pan Flute) or a Level 1 Hatchling (Drake Egg) in your inventory.
To equip your pet, double click the pet icon in your inventory or click and drag the icon to an empty accessory slot. You can un-equip the pet in the same way or you can drag the pet icon to an empty quick slot to make equipping and un-equipping easier. Remember to feed your newly acquired pet right away. When the vital power (red Bar) reaches 0, your pet dies.
You can have as many pet quest items, pan flutes or eggs, as your character can carry in your inventory. Pet quest items can also be stored in your storage box. Pets, however, cannot be placed in storage at the Storekeeper Bianca.
Scrat-chi Pet / It-chi PetWith the additions of these two new pets, you can have a total of 4 pets now. No, you can not have 4 horses or 4 dragons because I tried lol. You can have two pets in the combo of horse/dragon and 2 more pets in the combo of Scratch/Itchi. Example, 2 horses and 2 Itchi or 1 pony/1 dragon and 1 It-chi / 1 Scrat-chi.
Note: to get the new pets will require you to get dragon and horse parts for the appropriate pet. But what you can do, is to finish the first quest for each new pet to get the Gem that goes with the first quest. Then you can sell this at a nice profit now. DO NOT buy the torn books of life as you will eventually get one on a drop. Besides, if you go to "Pets & Mounts" I have listed the items you need for the first quests. You can collect this without any book as these will definitely take time to get. In the meantime, while you are hunting for these items, you will sure get a torn book drop, so do not waste your money.
Basically, read what items you need. Hunt for them and collect them. Once you are finished, you should have gotten a torn book of life drop already. Then you can go to the Velpist Temple for the Quest to see the Magician in Randol, to go to dratan to get the First Gem for your quest.
NOTE: When the new pets came out, everyone wanted one. Now we find out, that they are just decorations only. They can not help you in combat as many found out. But I got one to find this out. Now I just have it, to say I got a Scrat-chi. When i am AFK, I try to get in a combat party, and having Scrat-chi out, it will level with each kill by the other person. The maximum level is level 100, and i got mine from level 32 to level 40 in one week. So now, I level pet because nothing better else to do. Then maybe aeria will change the pet to fight along side the other pet, who knows.
