Acquiring skills is easy and will quickly become second nature after you have become familiar with the mechanics of the game. First, you need to know that skills are acquired through the use of "skill points". A skill point is awarded to your character for every 10,000 Skill Experience accumulated. Skill Experience is gained along side your normal experience each time you kill a foe or enemy. The amount of Skill Experience you gain is dependent on a few factors: the level of the enemy, the type of enemy, and sometimes the color of the enemy name. Some monsters or enemies give better Skill Experience than others, and it is always worth nothingnoting the ones that give a higher Skill Experience Ration.
Last Chaos Skill Acquisition
General and passive skills can be acquired from a master of your character class. These master NPCs can be found in every city or town and area easily located using the map. Before "purchasing" a skill, you will need to have the correct amount of skill points and have met any additional requirements. The requirements for a skill can be level dependent or may require you to have one level in a related skill.

General skills are skills that need to be activated to take effect (double clicking the skill icon in the skill menu or left-clicking if equipped to a quick slot). These are most commonly temporary buffs, enemy de-buffs, or a special attack. Another type of general skill is a "Personal Dungeon Only" skill. As implied in the name, these skills can only be used when participating in a personal dungeon.

Passive skills are permanently active and do not require you to activate them. Passive skills most commonly effect your character's abilities such as speed, attack, movement, defense, health, and mana.

Special skills can be purchased from various NPCs depending on the skill you wish to advance in. Production skills are acquired from professionals, crafting skills from smiths and alchemists, and processing skills are acquired from specialists in the type of material you wish to process.

Production skills increase the rate and amount of raw material gathered from mining, farming, and absorption. The raw materials gained from production are yellow herbs, herb trunks, green herbs, flawed stones, imperfect stones, quality stones, zeta waves, epsilon waves, and gamma waves.

Production skills allow you to turn raw materials into more complex crafting materials such as tinctures, elementary crystals, and diamonds.

Crafting skills allow you to craft weapons, armor, potions, and crystals from raw or crafting materials. The higher your abilities in these areas, the better the items you will be able to craft.

*If you wish to get more information on a skill, you can left-click the skill icon and hover your mouse cursor over the selected icon. This will bring up the skill information tag, detailing any information on that skill.
