Last Chaos Smelting Stones

See: Upgrading Weapons & Armour | Additional Effects of Upgrading | Heaven Stones | Extreme Stones | Blood Seals
Smelting Stones are the most common upgrading stone, usually used to upgrade the first three levels of a piece of armor or a weapon to +3. Smelting Stones are made by transmuting armor or weapons at the Transmuter NPC in town.

Smelting Stones and Their Levels
Smelting stones will always be the same level as the weapon or armor that it was transmuted from. It is important to check the level of Smelting Stones in order to have the correct level for upgrading. If you want to upgrade armor or weapons using Smelting Stones, the stones must be of the same or higher level than the armor or weapon you are upgrading.

Making Smelting Stones
The transmuter in town can transmute armor or weapons into smelting stones for you, though you do have to pay for this privilege. The higher the level of the item you are transmuting, the higher the cost to transmute it. Smelting Stones will always be the same level of the item they were transmuted from. Transmuting armor will result in one Smelting Stone, while transmuting weapons will result in two.getting TWO smelting stones..

Using Smelting Stones to Upgrade Weapons or ArmorLast Chaos - Success Rate of Smelting Stones
To use Smelting Stones to upgrade an item, equip the item you want to upgrade. Click and drag the Smelting Stone to the item, then click to confirm that you want to upgrade.

Success Rate of Smelting Stones
Smelting Stones will not always succeed to upgrade items. Failing to upgrade with a Smelting Stone past +3 will ruin the item and it will be lost forever along with the Smelting Stone used. This does not mean that using Smelting Stones will always destroy the item.

Smelting Stones have around a 30% success rate, though this rate of success lessens at higher levels of upgrading.

If the Smelting Stone fails below +3, there will be no change and the item will remain intact. All you will lose is the Smelting Stone. When using a Smelting Stone from +3 and above, failure will destroy the item and the stone used. So normally, you would upgrade any item up to +3 only.

By level 20, you should have at least gotten 1 hs. What you do, it to shop around or go to the trader and see what hs are selling for. You will only sell one. The reason is, by that level you may be sp farming, and you can AFFORD to get +4 armor then. So if it ruined. Buy another weapon to transmute. Remember weapons get you 2 smelting stones. I fought and sp farmed with +4 armor now. Again, people HAVE TO HAVE +15 armor, which is a waste of gold. But you will not find this out, till you are at a higher level in which in will not matter.
