Every pet will have a sympathy value associated to characters that equip them. The sympathy points do not have a bar to show the level and instead can be found in the Pet Menu. Your pet will have a sympathy rating from 0 to 100. The more points, the more sympathetic your pet is towards the character. Sympathy may seem unimportant in comparison with
health and
hunger, hunger, but it is just as important. If a pet has a low sympathy score, it will affect and lower any bonuses that are normally received from
pet skills.skills. Sympathy points will decrease if you regularly allow your pet to go hungry or fail to heal it, though these do not often have a huge effect. The one thing that does decrease the sympathy points drastically is having a pet you never use. While you have a pet equipped and have it follow you on your journeys and battles, its sympathy will increase at a farily quick rate, but if you leave a pet slung in the bottom of your backpack like an old sandwich on a camping trip, it won't hold much sympathy for your character.
So how do you increase the sympathy of your pet to get the most from it? Make sure your pet is equipped as often as you can. Normally, this will keep your pet at the high end of the sympathy rating. If, however, due to one of many reasons your pet has lost sympathy points, you can feed your pet energy to increase the sympathy points. You can feed energy waves to your pet by double-clicking the energy icon in your inventory, or you can equip the icon to a quick slot. The amount of sympathy points gained from energy waves depends on the quality of the energy:
Zeta Energy | Restores 1 Sympathy Point |
Epsilon Energy | Restores 3 Sympathy Points |
Gamma Energy | Restores 5 Sympathy Points |
