Well you have progressed along and have noticed that you kill monsters and not getting that sp fast enough. But like everything else in this game there is a trick to SP farming now.

NOTE; Jun 19, 2009 the xp lock was changed from 100% lock to 50% lock. Then the 10k sp instead of 5.5 k sp was just a rumor. So basically, you now have to have sp restoration scrolls when you start sp farming. Get the exact sp you need for each skill now. You will have to figure out the % xp you get with so many sp. That way you can figure out when to get a skill and kill yourself. You want to kill yourself at around say the 90-95% xp level now. You would use sp for all your skills then kill yourself to get back to 0% xp. You might even kill yourself to get MINUS xp if possible. I will have to check out this possibility now. Anyway, once you have all your skills now, then you will need a lot of sp restoration skills if you want to sp farm now. I have yet to figure out how to do this. I have a sp farmer that i will get on later on during the week and figure out what is the best course to take. Say you lose 3% xp with each death, then you would need 30 sp scrolls. So it might get expensive now. I will have to figure out how much sp i can get per % xp when killing the level 25 soldiers now in the Prokion Temple. Then from there kill myself noting the %xp lost. Once this is done then you will have a table to help guide you on what to do not. June 21, 2009 5fingers

WHAT IS SP FARMING????

SP Farming is a short term for Skill Point Farming. You will find that when you kill a monster, you get experience points and skill experience points (also called skill points or sp too). When you get so many experience points you advance a level. You will notice that if you want to get any general, passive, or special (crafting) skills, you need skill points to get them.

So you will find that it is easier to get sp at a lower level then a higher one. Example, at level 29 if I kill a Level 29 Orc Sergeant I will get 5500 sp. If I go outside the Temple and kill another level level 29 monster, I would get 1100 sp. Hmmm, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know where to get my sp from.

Now in the Velpist Temple in Randol you get 3300 sp and the Prokion Temple in Dratan you get 5500 sp for killing a monster at your level. So what I will do is sp farm. I will go to the temple and kill monsters my level to get the 5500 sp. Now here is the trick of sp farming.

NOTE: Join a guild and get your sp locked as soon as possible. You want to have it locked so you can gain xp SLOWLY now and get the sp along the way. So when you get to say level 8 or so and you can start killing the level 10 mobs in the Velpist Temple, you can be SP farming as you level. So by the time you get to the Prokion Temple, you will be "Locked" and have experience killing and more sp then usual. So pay heed to this. Now these are all suggestions and you do what you want now. It is hard to sometimes reedit as I will miss certain things. But I will try to change this section to match this paragraph now. Remember, sp lock as soon as you can now.

Also, get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN the sp for the skills you need at the master. Reason is, when you get close to 90%, you can figure out how much more sp you need for a skill. Say 3 skills you need 1105 sp. Then you try to get the sp. You will note how much sp you get for every %. That way you can tell what % of xp you need for a skill. Now if you get the sp for the 3 skills before you hit 90% experience, then get skills and then kill yourself, till you are back to 0%. Remember, you want to get EXACT sp you need to get your skill, so that way you will lose nothing. Now you could get sp for one skill, get your skill and kill yourself also. But probably easier to get close to 90% experience and try to get more then 1 skill. But this is the basics on what you need to do to MAXIMIZE sp farming.

I will start off killing monsters in the Velpist Temple and advance in level of monsters as I go. They start off at level 10. Remember at Level 10, Level 11, and Level 12 I will make sure I have the necessary armor, 5 levels above me on. So when I make Level 10, I can now wear Level 15 armor. Anyway, you precede killing monsters. Now at about Level 15, or even earlier if you have good armor and you have learned quick, you can go to the Prokion Temple to start on the Level 17 ghouls there. It is easy as they are usually located at the entrance to the halls inside. You can try to kill one then if you get hit too much, retreat to the middle hall and recover hit points. Remember not to die, because at level 11 and above you start to lose experience and skill points when you die. You first lose 5% experience points at first, but that is not much as monsters are easy to kill.

Now once you are in the Temple killing you have to decide at what level you want to "Lock your xp" if you have not done so yet. Some people want to level so they can start sp farming in the Prokion Temple now. But again, that is up to you.

You have to be in a guild that is level 6 or above that the GM of the guild can lock you experience points. What you are doing is donating your experience points to the guild. For every 10,000 experience points donated, the guild gets 1 guild point. Guild points are needed when the guild is level 6 or higher to level the guild, get a new level of membership (100 members is maximum at the moment), or to put out the guild notice. By "locking" your experience, you will not level. In the good, ole days you had to kill yourself so you would not level. You want to stay at the same level as the monster so you can get the maximum sp points. Again, with your xp locked, you can not kill monsters at the same level you want and get the xp and now worry about leveling out of their range.

Anyway here is an example. But you can lock your xp at any level from level 17 to level 29. Here is what I did. I leveled in the Prokion Temple till I was level 29. DO NOT SP farm on Orcs, as they are not the many to begin with. But again, no guide to tell me so. And I was lucky as it was a "100% xp lock" then.

The Orc Sergeants are Level 29 and at level 29 I can use the next higher weapon a level 33 weapon. When monsters are your level, you usually find them easier to kill. I would go to the 2d floor of the Temple located at the other end of the teleporter inside the entrance. Anyway, after navigating the Temple to reach the 2d level floor, I would go around the square there and kill Orc Sergeants and Orc Axemen. It is a good idea to have some kind of sp items that boost your sp when you kill. Example, using an effort scroll, you will get 150% sp for 10 minutes. I was using a Platinum super skill pill (pssp), a psp (platinum skill pill, also called platinum training book too. I always got confused as the two names were used. The platinum skill pill has the 50% boost and the other one, skill pill is only a 15% boost). I equipped the skill point booster (spb) before stating to kill the Orc Sergeant. The PSSP and the training pill last an hour now. Killing an Orc Sergeant with the 3 sp items, i would get 69k of sp. This would translate to about 6.9 sp in my stats per kill. But with the xp locked changed I will have to see what the sp is now. Regular hits are 5500 sp and now they are said to be 10,000 sp and the question remains is their a limit to the sp now.

Now if I used the other sp training pill of 50%, my max sp was 77k or 7.7 sp in my stats. The 50% pill was way too expensive compared to the sp it gave compared to the the other pill of only 15%. But remember, I was in a SOLO PARTY too. Do not go into a combat party using these sp items as you will find they are wasted.

As of April 09, gold prices on the spb and pssp were extremely high

That is why I suggested to make a pet trainer first as you may get gold on drops and eventually sell a low level pet for gold to buy these items from the various players. Pets are selling at high prices in Sarissa as of June 09. I was able to buy ap to get these items. Anyway, while sp farming you slowly also get your passive skills maxed first, then general skills also. I suggest to get all crafting skills maxed too. Also make sure you are ALWAYS in a solo party. If not, then you will notice one time you get 5500 sp then the next it is 5190 sp. The xp and sp will go up and down. The solo party gives you the maximum xp and sp for the monster you kill.

You will count all the sp you need to get all your skills now. For a knight it is about 11k sp. So if you were to get about 11k sp then you must also have either sp restoration scrolls or resurrection scrolls. When you finish the Temple after reaching your quota of sp, you need to buy either scroll so when you die, you WILL NOT lose sp. SP is harder to get back then xp. So you somehow have to figure out how to buy these scrolls. Start buying the Resurrection scrolls, before you even start SP farming if you can. Plan ahead.

I suggest while you are sp farming, to read the LC forums on how to get free ap. Go to the contest and events as they have stuff there for getting free ap. In the 3-5 months that you may sp farm, you should be able to get some free ap now. Read the section "Item Mall and ap" on how to buy ap and spend it wisely too. When you pet train, you can eventually sell a low level mount for gold. Just shop around and find out what a level 20 mount may bring you.

Yes, you are sp farming but you got so many other things to worry about too, lol. But this is a "Short, brief" description on what sp farming is all about.

NEW VERSION OF SP FARMING

With the New revised Dratan Map, there has been only slight changes, but important. At level 10, you want to level in the Velpist Temple with the monsters at your own level. As you may have found out, that monsters that are white and the same level as you are easy to kill. Well the same level monsters in the Velpist Temple in Randol will give you 3300 sp.

Then in the Prokion Temple in Dratan, the same level mob will give you 5500 sp. So gone are the days of sp farming on the Level 12 Sasquatch for 1950 sp which was high at that time. Of course, you had to continually kill yourself so you would not level either, lol.

The Old Version below is good to know, because the techniques you need to know. Say after you get to level 30, the old version techniques are valid now. The only thing that is changed, as I have said, is the monster to sp farm on. Now you can sp farm at level 10 and level 23. And again, Level 23 you will get 5500 with the orc soldier in the Prokion Temple, BUT you will get more gold and better item drops versus the level 10 drops. To put it in perspective to get 100 sp points, you kill the following: 50 - Level 12 Sasquatch, or 30 - Level 10 Zombies or 18 - Level 23 Orc Soldiers.

I have checked the Prokion Temple out and level 23 and level 25 have good groups of monsters at those levels. Now at level 25, you can upgrade to a level 25 weapon and kill faster now.

OLD VERSION of SP FARMING
(Obsolete now)

If you kill a white monster that is the same level as you, and you are in solo party, this is the max sp you will get. You will get 1100 sp maximum now starting at level 20. If the monster is yellow or red, the sp is lower but theLast Chaos Strategy: SP Farming xp is greater. If you kill green names, the sp is lower and the xp is also lower. Just remember, killing blue names is a waste of time. You hardly collect anything and also your pet does not level if you hit any blue name monsters.

So the basic premise is to kill white name monsters the same level as you to get the max, 1100 sp. At Level 20, is where the sp suddenly drops off to the max of 1100 sp, and this continues like this throughout the game. But there is something else you should look at too. I call it the time/hit sp ratio.

For example, at level 18, my level 18 knight is killing drakes to get the max sp of 1375. At level 19, the drake is now 1237 sp and the Horn beast is 1155 sp. You know from experience that Horned Beasts are a lot harder to kill then drakes are. Then at level 20 the drake is 1100 sp and harpy 1100 sp. Now here is the catch. At level 21 you could get more sp with the Skeleton Soldier 1100 at the Velpist temple - Juno, or with the Dark Goddess 1045 in Dratan. But the drake is one level lower then you are and remember it is now easier to kill. At level 22, there is about a 500 sp gap from the Dark Goddess and the drake sp.

Well if you try to sp farm on the skeleton soldier, his buddies want to kill you too. You will take damage and it is a little hard to kill them one by one. The Dark Goddess are not too bad as far as killing. But when you kill one, you have to chase down the next one. So why not the drakes?? People say, the skeleton soldier and Dark Goddess have more sp then the drakes. This is true. BUT, what you need to know that if you were to kill each set of monsters in a 15 minute period, which one would you get MORE sp. Why of course the drakes!!!

You see the Drakes have less sp, but since you are a higher level, you can kill all day and night, not really taking damage from them. Remember, green named monsters are lower then you, therefore you can kill them easier and they give you less damage too. Now not all green named monsters are good for sp farming ,you just have to figure out which ones. I was killing drakes up to level 23, when I changed monsters.

So it is a matter of time and killing rate which should be the factor for sp farming. Besides a green name is always easier to kill then a white name. If there are two green name monsters, then kill both and use your judgement which was easier to kill. When you get to level 28, there will be the Treants. Then at level 30 the Butchers in their hordes will be next. Remember these are monsters that are like 2 levels below you and they should be green name to you.

And to be noted. Sometimes a monster like a harpy queen might be good to sp farm on , but then they are not enough of them really to hit on. So again, just adjust tactics and try to find something with a lot of monsters around like the butchers or drakes, if you can. But you may hit something higher cuz the lower monsters are not that much around. Adjust accordingly now.

CONCLUSION:
So I hoped you have learned that a monster with a higher sp is not always the one to sp farm for. Remember when you do sp farm to be in a solo party now. Solo party will give you max xp as well as the max sp.
