Lots of people continually get frustrated because the fight and are dying all the time. Well, fighting has its own little secrets and rewards. Remember for this game you have to think "long term." In other words, if you do not think too big, you can level. Killing a Red name monster by yourself may get you experience points, but the problem is, if you die, you lose xp. Then how long does it take to recover the xp back? Whereas, if you just killed a white name monster, more then likely you are still living, but ahead in xp as well.

The following covers the basics of combat now. You get more xp and sp in Temples now, but after you level up and have to kill outside, these basics will apply then also. People forget that when you get killed you lose xp or as I call it, you lose playing time.

1. If you are soloing, choose a white name monster. I prefer green name monsters better. The reason green names are better, because you can collect the sp and you can make more xp also, without getting killed. Now, not all green names are the same xp and sp, depending on their level now. What you can do is to kill for 10 minutes the same white name and green name monsters and compare the sp and xp. Remember with the white name, you may have to rest to recover hp whereas the green name monster you should not have to do that. I call it the hit/xp time ration. How long does it to take you to hit a monster to get xp or sp from it? Remember, that when you get to higher levels you will be going to Egeha and really level there, so for the first 31 levels do not worry about leveling yet. But some people do not know that and want to level yesterday. And if you are reading this, then you are already in the right track of leveling.
NOTE:1. This has changed in that you can go to the Velpist Temple and the Prokion Temple and get more xp and sp then fighting outside. But the above will now hold true till you get to a point that you are no longer soloing in the Prokion Temple in Dratan. For leveling now, you can skip Egeha thank goodness. What you do is go to the area of the Tomb and start on the sphinixsphinx outside. Try to go in a party if you can. If you have ap, then buy potions to help you level. I went there by myself and bought the Chaos Chance package. (See "Item Mall and AP"). I used platinum blessed iris and experience boosters and really leveled there. Then when i got to level 49, I went to the Tomb and killed screaming zombies at the entance.entrance. 3 kills and iI leveled. Again, I had the pbi and xpb now.

2. If you decide to kill a red monster, try to get one individually. Remember when you break contact with the monster because your hit points are getting low there are a few things you need to know. First, you will hit the monster and retreat. When you do the monster may get one or possible two more "free hits" at you as you retreat. So if the monster were hitting you for 300 hit points a whack, and then when your hit points get to 1000 hit points, you should decide to retreat then. Remember, this is IF the monster were to hit you twice in a row. Because , if you die, you might lose 5%, 3%, or 2%, depending on your level. Once you start to a point where you lose 2% on dying, you will find it takes a while to make it up. Of course, this does not include demon parties now.

In the demon parties of Egeha, not all parties are good. You have to know when to fold. If you are in a party and the rogue is slow and say you get killed 3 times in a row cause of slow snare or stun, it is time to quit that party. Remember, people will always tell you to stay because they are not the ones dying and losing playing time. Then again, there are good parties where the rogues and knights are competent too.

If you are smart, try to get the party to go to the sphinixSphinx in the Tomb area outside.

3. Get in a combat party if you can, if you can kill a monster by yourself. These will give you more points then a solo and you get a bonus from the other guy when he kills a monster too. Now here is a little trick. If you are in a combat party and the monster sp is really low or nothing to talk about, then you can do this. If the other person has to go, then tell him that if he can place his character where it will not get hit or die, AND still be in your radar screen, to do so. That way you can get the "extra combat bonus" and the other person also gets a little bonus xp from you too. A win-win situation for both. Remember, this is for when you are not worried about the sp but want the xp instead.

4. If you are not able to buy ap, then go to the LC forum and they always have something in which you can get free ap. It may take a little time, but then that is what you call planning ahead. Once you do get your ap, then look into buying a xp restoration scroll. Do not buy it right away, if you do not need it. Save your ap and wait till they have it on sale now. But buy one at a time as you need them. They are only 49 ap. If you were to die, you can use this and not lose xp. You are given the chance to resurrect on the spot or to resurrect at the closest starting point. Remember, if you are alone and the monster just killed you, resurrect at the closest starting point. Reason is, you will have to be fast to resurrect on the spot, take a heal potion, and to dodge the monster or monsters that killed you. After a while, you will find it better to resurrect at the closest starting point, fully recover plus take a break and then go back to try to kick some butt (if you can now, lol).

If you have a xp restoration scroll on and get killed in the arena, DO NOT use the scroll. You resurrect anyway without loss of points when you get killed in the arena. If you use the scroll, then you just wasted it, because you resurrect without loss of points also.

Remember when you die and resurrect on the spot you are not FULLY recovered now. In demon parties I always choose to resurrect in town and this was the safest thing to do. Then I could always teleport back to the site. If you resurrect on the spot, make sure you have BIG heal pots ready to use.

NOTE: It is important that you read the section to the left, "Item Mall and AP."

5. There are 3 things in this game: Level, shop, and pet train. Level is self-explanatory, but you have to shop around all the time to find better armor for yourself or buy things to sell at a profit. You have to have gold for upgrading weapons and/or armor. Then you pet train on the side to either get a mount for yourself or to sell one. You need the level 37 horse mount to get those 10/10 buffs now. If you sell a mount, you can buy those boosters, armor, or weapons that you need to level faster.

6. When you are attacking, you have to constantly look at your health bar. If you kill the monster and the hp is low, then rest and recuperate. Most people want to wait till they have a few points left to heal, but then it is usually too late. You die, then you just lost the last hour of playing now. Then if you were using boosters or such, then in a way, all the money for them were lost too.

To disengage from a monster, you must do ahead of time. I find that to disengage, the monster will hit you once, then when you get ready to run, the monster may hit you again. I have had at least 3 hits, before i could disengage. I finally figured it out. You have to disengage early, if you want to live.

AGGRO
This is when you throw a buff and the monster is attracted to you and starts to attack you. Examples are, when healers throw a heal spellspell, then any monster close to her will "aggro" to her and attack her. What makes it bad is that the healer will attract monsters from far away that would not normally attack her because she was not close to them. So throwing a spell or buff, extends the range that a monster would normally attack you.

Here are other things to be aware of. If you are in a valley in Egeha, there is a place where one person will go and lure a demon to the party in the middle of the valley. Now if the healer throws a heal spell "to help" the lurer, then the skinwalker nearby may aggro on the lurer. The Skinwalker is attracted by the heal spell being thrown on the person luring. You may learn this the hard way. I know a couple of times, I was trying to figure out why the skinwalker was attacking till someone told the healer to stop helping me. This same principle holds well in all places in LC areas now.

Here is the strategy tip. If a monster is attracted to you and you start to run away it will chase you. But if you have a recall window on and take recall, it will stop and look for the nearest person usually if there is one around. So have your recall handy. Once you get the hang of this it will be second nature for the person to throw a recall when the lurer has taken one or another person has taken a recall. I call it a "Safety Recall." You might have it handy in the tomb, so when you accidentally hit the Anubis Occulist, you can recall and lose aggro. The Occulist is a debuffer, and debuffs you. That is not a problem but the problem is that if you have any xpb, spb, or power potions on, they are gone too. So i can get costly. Most people fight them but wait till the last minute, to press the f key to add the experience booster.

In a party have the recall wndowwindow ready in case your points get low that you can recall and lose the "aggro" so the monster will stop attacking you. Anyone can do this, and knowing and practicing having the recall window available will save you from dying a lot. Remember, it is not the problem of dying. It is the problem of losing playing time. You have to play to catch up on the experience you lost.

Example, you have 100,000 xp points. You die and now you have 50,000 xp. It may take you an hour to get the 50,000 xp back. Now if you had not died you would have had 150,000 xp. So you are still 50,000 xp in the hole now. So in a manner of speaking you seem to lose double xp.

Solo Party with aggro

You are in the tomb and the monsters can not hurt you much. Well when you attack the first one, the other mob nearby may start on your pet. What you do is unequip pet, then equip again. This generally works. Then after you kill the monster you were attacking, you look for the next monster to attack. When iI attack the 2d monster, iI automatically unequip my pet, then equip my pet again. This way my pet will lose any aggro on it and the monster will attack me. I have my pet herbs on f12 and pet icon on f11. Then when i equip my pet, i can hit the herb key at the same time if i had unequipped my pet because of a low food bar, the red line. So if I am fighting a commander, I have already unequipped and equipped my pet. But then if another commander comes to attack me also, then I have to unequip pet and equip pet again. Just remember, that anytime a NEW mob attacks you, to take the pet off and put on again.

The above are good things to know and you need to remember to practice them too. Once you understand what aggro is, then all this will become clear to you.
