Upgrading Weapons & Armour
Last Chaos Weapons & Armor Upgrades (Under construction 29 Sep 09)
See: Additional Effects of Upgrading | Smelting Stones | Heaven Stones | Extreme Stones | Blood Seals One of the features of Last Chaos is the ability to "upgrade" weapons and armor. Weapons and armor can be "plussed" using a choice or mix of different stones/items:
You can also plus an item by using a Bonus Book of Melding with a cover for the item. The Bonus Book of Melding gives anywhere from +1 to +3, and lasts for 30 days. You can plus a weapon or pieces of armor in this way up to a maximum of +15. If you perchance need to sell the weapon or armor that used the Bonus Book of Melding, then you simply use a Book of Unmelding to seperate the cover and the item. You can not sell or trade any item that has the bonus book of meld on it.
You can use a refining stone with its +1 to +3 upgrade to the armor or weapon that is not covered, and the effects last for 24 hours real time. With the refining stone it is possible to get +16.
You can also upgrade weapons and armor with the use of Blood Seals. These add bonuses to different abilities such as dexterity, evasion, mana, health, defense, etc. A weapon has 5 seals and armor carries 3 seals on them. You may buy the blood seals for 1000 gold from Merchant Geres in Randol, or one of the other merchants in Dratan, and Merac.
Upgraded weapons and armor get more powerful the higher you plus them. Not only in attack or defense, but at higher levels, other bonuses are granted to the character. Alongside these bonuses, a visual special effect is granted at certain levels. The first of these visual effects appears at +4: a soft white glow for weapons and a small glowing fairy for armor.
Upgrading armor, especially at higher levels, can be a frustrating task. Failure in upgrading an item can mean the destruction of that item .
Knight with armor +4 and loss of the money and parts used to upgrade it. When an upgrade succeeds, it can make all the risk involved feel worth it for that perfect item.
With the Armor smithing skills and Weapon smithing skills maxed it makes upgrading weapons and armor almost too easy. But to be on the safe side please have alot of HS's or Heavenstones to help you upgrade your weapons and armor. Although failures or breaks may happen less with these skills maxed, it is still possible for upgrades to fail. It is very important to read the section in the Strategy Guide on
How to Upgrade with Heaven Stones.
If you don't have these skills maxed please have Runes of Protection Lvls 1 and 2 to help you. It is easier to upgrade with these with you, you have less of a chance for your weapons and armor to break. There are also very expensive.
All of this is stuff you need to know and as you progress you will learn on what to do. Remember to read the "Last Chaos Strategy Guide" section for tips on upgrading and other tips, you will need to be a success in Last Chaos.

For armor to get a fairy, the chest piece, gloves, pants, and boots must all be +4 or higher level. For example, +5 chest, +4 pants, +4 boots, and +6 gloves would have a +4 effect fairy. Then with horse armor or if your 4 pieces of armor are +15, you get a bigger, brighter fairy. *"Big Fairy/+15 Duals" Small Fairy/+15 Duals |
