Higher resolution ?
Nov 23 2008, 2:12 PM EST
I have a 24" screen which optimal resolution is 1920x1200. The max in game is 1600x1200 which is not even a 16x10 ratio so the image is distorted and not as sharp as it should be. Is there any way to override game resolution ?Thanks Do you find this valuable?

You can not override game resolution, lol. You should have good resolution now, considering you have a 1920x1200 max resolution now.Are you sure about the resolution because in Last Chaos, the resolution is 1024x768. There is 16 bit and 32 bit. I use the 1024x768, 32 bit. This uses the full screen. If I do not check the box with "full Screen", i still get the same size but I can now have a open folder or this wiki program open to make changes from the game. Anyway, from the info you gave me, you need to recheck the resolution, but here is what you might try. 1) Does your TV or monitor has controls to control the screen size. That is to control the screen ratio. If so, they all i can say is to try the different aspects and see what happens. Use the LC game resolution of 1024x768 and the 800x600 to see what happens. 2) Send me the model number and brand of monitor you have. It will take me a few seconds to check out the controls for it. I use a Sony LCD 32" TV as it has pc hookups and has TV ratio controls now. 3) check to see if your monitor has controls for sharpness. It should. Then just play around with it, to see if it helps any now. 4) Theoretically, you should have a good picture unless you have a very old monitor now. Well let me know what happens then. I can help, but i need EXACT answers as I know somethings, but your ratio and what the game i play has are two different things. Also, if you are not from USA, let me know that too. First thanks for taking the time to answer :-)I am playing on an iMac so the screen is buil-in. According to what you say LC will only show resolutions your screen can support but has been locked at 1600x1200 (or at least did not detect mine properly). Clicking the "full screen" check box will stretch the picture to fill my screen from 1600 to 1920 which is what I call "distortion". Sure I can downgrade the resolution but optimal (sharp as opposed to blurred) resolution is always the highest. http://www.apple.com/imac/specs/ only the basics there. The sharpness of the picture is perfect in 1920x1200 (lowering the resolution even to match 16x10 in the game just makes it uglier) Some games (Quake, Unreal...) have .ini or .cfg files that you can edit manually to change the settings thats where I thought I could override the resolution :) I live in europe ;) Do you find this valuable? |

aha, that answers some of my question. You see with LC you can not adjust the resolution. Hmmm, give me a few days to get back with you. Reason, is I need to look up some stuff, then when i get the answer I will post it in my computer tips and tricks section. Hopefully, this may help someone else. Now for one thing, because of the LC resolution, you will not be able to use FULL screen on your pc. Your res is one size and the LC res is another. So the best you may get is a pic, with black space on both sides. I would think to fill up your entire screen you would get something of a distortion now. I got a synmaster 213t which i will change cables to and check out what you are talking about. Yea, I bought a 32" LCD Sony with PC inputs and I just LOVE this BIG SCREEN, lol. Now, in windows they have a place where you can change the screen res. My sister-in-law gots a iMac laptop so i will go next door when she is home and check out your res problem there. Remember, the LC game has only 4 res sizes. None of them are for the 1600x1200 screen. The best you can do is fit from top to bottom and then on the LC window, you would have space on both sides now. "Stretching" the res would give distortion now. Hope you understand this (because I don't, LOL, just kidding). But let me just recheck what i have just said. And I will try and check the LC res on her iMac if she will let me now. Well I will get back later and let you know what happens. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

My sister-in-law is such a twit. Thinks i am going to break her new pc by changing res on it. But when she has a problem she calls me though. lol So i was not able to use her iMac. But the basics are the same everywhere. Your res on your pc, you would have to lower it down to the LC res. Simple as that. So in other words if another game had better res, you might get a better pic now then LC. But for now, lower your res to the one on LC is all I can say. My res is 1360x768, 32 bit and i use the LC 1024x768 so not too much difference. Then i stepped down to pc res of 1280x768 and again, no noticeable difference. Except in the desktop the icons got a little bigger of course. Best thing i can say is to lower your res, even though your screen can carry a higher res, but only if the pic will permit it. This way you should have a game screen that may fill up your screen, but the right and left sides will be black space now. I looked around and asked about changing res on game but the few answers i got were to no avail. No I know you can change the music files. One guy did to play something else beside that dismal LC music, lol. Hope this helps if anything. Do you find this valuable? |

Impressed. Wait till you get the bill!! Now that will be impressive??? LOL Yea, thank goodness no one gives me a hard question to look up. Now that would be hard.Well, I just happened to call HP on my keyboard. I asked the tech on the res questions. Well, your monitor can have a high res but only if the program will support it. Then it was something that you could only get the res that LC had and no higher. He said a better video board would help as far as game plays, less dc, smoother scrolling. So i figured when you use the full screen on LC, then you get top to bottom ok, but then space on the side, as the screen is for the people that have square monitors, lol, and not wide screen res. Well i hope i answered your question. One more thing, my res on my TV looks good now, on my Sony 32". I bought it cuz i needed a TV and this happened to have PC input. Now my Samsung SyncMaser 213T is collecting dust. I got another PC, i was thinking of hooking up. That way 24/7 pet training. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
