Is there a way to know which processes running to delete on task manag

I am a litttle familar with some of the suggestions given here.

I think my issue involves all of the processes that are running ... about 70 ... many appear to be duplicates ..... I have a good spyware with my ISP Qwest ... I have Vista and I believe 3 Gb.

With my last computer I deleted processes and ended up as was stated crashing .... not becasue of spyware I had norton ... I have tried to locate a means to clean up all of the stuff I have accumulated ... without luck .... any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank You

never fear Mr. Know it all is here. lol. Actually have you gone to read the section i have "Computer tips and tricks." First you download BELARC. This will tell you what you have in your PC. Then google your pc at one of the memory places and see how much memory you can put in. BUT watch it now. I have 3Gb that came with mine. My motherboard can handle only 3.3 Gb of memory but could hold up to 8 Gb of memory. Like trying to pour a gallon of water in a one cup container, wasted water and wasted money on memory. Anyway, you have to also google the pc brand and model and check the stats out. Belarc will tell you how much memory youhave in there. Most of the time, NOT ALL, memory is at a minimum. Then if you have an integrated chip and have a blank PCI-E slot, then you are in luck.

Also, read about vista and the ready boost. I bought a 4gb, 333mhz memory card on ebay for like SUPERCHEAP. Paid like $40 and the next cheapest thing was USA dealers for $90. I think i must have bought from the factory cuz it came from china a san disk card. It was a compact flash, but the cheapest one available. The same type like sd, ms, or other cards were double price. It speeds things up but you have to read the info on vista ready boost.

NEVER delete processes unless you know what you are doing too. There are certain types you can delete like the ones for the fax and stuff you do not use or need, but again best to not do nothing unless you know what you are doing.

But look at your memory if you can add more, does your pc have an "integrated" video chip which means you can get a video card to improve performance, and i guess fragging your pc too. I use a PC Pitstop to take off any garbage and it improves pc performance by tweaking it some. But also look into Ready boost too. IF i remember, i will try to get the item off my ebay and let you see what i paid for it versus others.

Quoted from this site:
"Through our IT Consultancy, Support and HelpDesk Services we often come across PC problems caused primarily by programs running in the background, programs which in most cases are started automatically when Windows boots up. 65% of computer problems we solve are caused by such programs. Sometimes these programs are useful and need to be there; quite often, however, they are not needed, and in too many cases they cause severe problems, and this includes some of Microsoft's own XP Services and Vista Services !

The pages below provide guidance on the usefulness or not of some of these background tasks, Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista services, and Windows Startups, and removal procedures when recommended. "

Ran across this. This is for Vista users and i posted it also in computer tricks and tips.

You can probably use search and find the one to trim down programs for Windows XP users.

I forgot to mention. Read the Computr Tricks and Tips on Vista Ready Boost. I find a lot are not aware of this. Also, if your pc has a card reader you can use any side card now. I got a multimedia, from ebay, the fastest card alive, lol. Anyway, Vista makes reference to using an SD card. I put mine in, and the pc went to the ready boost window. If you think about it, you have to put the SD card, in a a card reader. So why not then, any card. I thought about that and then when i saw this MM card so cheap I bought it. And yes, it did work.

When patches come out and you are loading and the patch freezes , go to Task Manager and delete LC and relog.
